What I’m Excited for on Disney+

I’m not an expert on streaming services. After leaving college, I got rid of my Netflix and Hulu. My family has cable at home, and like the typical millenial, I’m living back at home. So if I’m watching TV, I usually watch whatever is on TV. Generally, that’s more than enough TV content for me. So I just have a hard time justifying purchasing a bunch of different streaming services. Plus, aside from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and A Series of Unfortunate Events, I’m a bit meh on the Netflix original content.

With Disney’s D23 convention happening this weekend, Disney+ has announced a slew of new content for their new streaming service coming November 12. I’m personally actually pretty excited for Disney+ and can see myself paying for it to try it out. Before I get into the new original content for Disney+, I just want to share a few reasons why I’m excited for Disney+:

  1. I’m a fan of Disney content. I watched the Disney channel growing up. I watch most of the Disney movies in theaters. I know they can produce great content.
  2. I’m hoping Disney+ will have a bunch of my favorite Disney movies and possibly even Disney Channel Original Movies. I’m really looking for Disney+ to have that nostalgia feeling when I browse the content when it goes live.
  3. I need to binge all the Marvel and Star Wars movies I have yet to watch, and Disney+ seems like a great way to do just that.

Now, let’s talk about the Disney+ original content that they’ve announced. Also, I’m not an expert on Disney+. This is not a comprehensive list of their content coming on Disney+. These are just things that caught my eye browsing news articles and Twitter coverage on D23.

Disney+ original content I really want to watch

The Lizzie McGuire reboot. There’s not a whole lot of information about this yet besides the fact that Hilary Duff will be reprising her role as Lizzie in her 30s, but I grew up on Lizzie McGuire. It was a favorite of mine. I’m 100% here for this.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum. I’m very excited for this. I don’t know a whole lot about Jeff Goldblum. I can’t name many things that I’ve watched that he’s in besides Jurassic Park and Jurassic World… I do know, however, that he’s an interesting person. So I think this show will be interesting.

Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. I really enjoyed Phineas and Ferb even though I think it’s target audiance was not me, but it was fun. It was also a easy way to have 10 minute breaks when studying in college. I’m excited to revisit these characters.

Disney+ original content that made me cringe but will probably end up watching

Yes, we’re going there… High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. I was in high school when High School Musical, High School Musical 2, and High School Musical 3 came out. It was over the top ridiculous, cheesy, and completely not what my high school experience was like, but I enjoyed it. Now would I enjoy any sort of High School Musical like content today, I don’t know… I’m not part of the fan base that wants a High School Musical 4. Plus, this trailer totally made me cringe. However, knowing me, I’ll watch the first episode anyway. & Who knows what will happen from there.

Disney+ original content that I’ll watch but have no strong feelings towards

The Mandalorian. I 100% thought this was going to be a movie, but I guess it’s going to be a series. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan. I know I haven’t watched all of the Star Wars movies. I do think this is cool though, and I’ll probably watch it after I binge all the original Star Wars films.

Noelle. This looks like a silly, cheesy Christmas movie. I’m a fan of Anna Kendrick though. I think it’ll probably be funny and worth watching at least once.

Anyway, are you excited for Diseny+? What are your thoughts on all of the streaming services? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
