Review: Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

Over my birthday weekend when I was under the weather, I decided to watch Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made on Disney+. To be honest, I didn’t realize that it was a middle-grade book. (Absolute failure on my part…) I just saw the trailer and thought it was intriguing. Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made had a very indie movie feel to it and was both weird and cute at the same time.

Timmy Failure is the CEO of his detective agency, and his partner is a polar bear named Total. Despite his surname, Timmy is sure that his detective agency is on the verge of greatness. In the movie, Timmy deals with a lot of change in his life, but his major case is finding his mother’s stolen segway (a.k.a. the Failure-Mobile).

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made was definitely WEIRD. Not everyone is going to like it. I, however, did enjoy it. What I liked most about the film was how it blurred the lines at times where you’re not quite sure if it’s real or Timmy’s imagination. & I wish I had an imagination like Timmy’s when I was a child. I also enjoyed watching Timmy learn to deal with the changes in his life while trying to stay true to yourself, which I think can be difficult at any age. It’s definitely a heartwarming story if you enjoy being in Timmy’s imagination at times.

Arguably, Timmy isn’t the greatest detective out there, but I really admire his spirit to become the greatest detective. I totally wanted to become a detective at one point in my childhood. I would have loved to become a modern-day Sherlock Holmes.

Anyway, have you read the book or watched the movie? Are you thinking about watching Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made? Let me know!
