Exciting July Releases

I honestly can’t believe half the year went by already! We’re 6-months into 2017, and I feel like I haven’t  been reading much at all. It’s such a tragedy!!! Regardless of my lack of ability to focus on reading, my TBR continues to grow. Here are some of the books releasing this July that I’m excited for. (Also I’ve been in a HUGE fluffy, contemporary mood. So… Many of my books on this list probably fit that category. Haha!) 1. What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum (7/11) – To be honest, I’m mostly interested in reading this book because I enjoyed Julie Buxbaum’s previous novel. Plus there’s been good reviews. So I have high hopes. 2. I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski (7/11) – This is on my list because I’m hoping it turns out to be an absolutely hilarious, fluffy read. I mean what could go wrong […]

Exciting May & June Releases

Posted 12 June, 2017 by Amy in Bookish Thoughts / 0 Comments

Hello there! It’s been a while, hasn’t it…. My apologies. May was a tad bit crazy, but things should be calming down now, thankfully. Plus I’m so ready to pack my summer weekends with outdoor activities that will most likely include tons of reading. It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to read for fun without guilt. So I know I have lots to catch up on. Here are some of my top picks for books that released in May and June. Feel free to provide me with recommendations as well! I could definitely use them. 🙂 1. Dear Reader by Mary O’Connell (5/9) – I’m very intrigued by the synopsis of this book. It sounds like a mystery/romance that could possibly also be a Wuthering Heights retelling or at least have elements from Wuthering Heights. 2. Chemistry by Weike Wang (5/23) – To be honest, I’m not sure I’d like this […]

Review: Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

Posted 17 April, 2017 by Amy in Book Reviews / 0 Comments

Jenn Bennett’s Alex, Approximately left me longing for a California summer. (Hawaii is great, but it doesn’t have the boardwalks like California or the one featured in Alex, Approximately.) It’s the perfect feel good summery read with the most endearing characters. I fell in love with Bailey Rydell and Porter Roth from the very beginning and absolutely enjoyed watching their relationship blossom as they came out of their shells. In Alex, Approximately, Bailey and Porter met online, chatting about classic films. Despite living on opposite coasts, they have a budding relationship that seems like it could be something more than just friendship. Fleeing her mother and step-father, Bailey moves in with her father who happens to live in the same small California town as Porter. You’d think this would be their chance to meet, but Bailey refrains from telling Porter she’s in town. (She likes to think of herself as an evader.) Plus Bailey […]

Exciting April Releases

It’s APRIL!!! Time sure flies. April is a month FULL OF NEW RELEASES! I feel like publishers must be getting ready for summer, filling the bookshelves with a bunch of new releases for students to read. Oh, how I miss summer… Granted, I do have a vacation coming up in about 1.5 months. YES!! It’s not a relaxing vacation. So I doubt I’ll have much time to read besides on the plane. However, it is my first vacation ABROAD since high school… Man, I’m starting to feel old. HAHA! Anyway, enough about me. On to the books! 1. Alex Approximately by Jenn Bennett (4/4) – I’m really excited for this book. Thus far, I’ve liked books that feature characters that meet online first and end up meeting each other in real life not knowing it’s their online friend. So I have high hopes for this one as well! 2. Letters to the Lost […]

Bookish Thoughts: DNF-ing Books

Posted 27 March, 2017 by Amy in Bookish Thoughts / 0 Comments

Have you marked a book as DNF (did not finish) before? Or are you someone that pushes through till the end, hoping the book will improve as it progresses? If you’re the second, I applaud your persistence. It’s something I no longer have…. Back before book blogging, I used to complete EVERY BOOK I read. (The only exception was required reading. I do not like being told what to read when my personal TBR is on the verge of toppling over.) As I entered college and my free time dwindled, I realized that I no longer had enough time to read EVERYTHING, and truly, life is too short to be reading a book that fails to capture my attention. Thus, I began DNF-ing books. I am not sure how others base their DNF-in decision making, but for me, it is mainly time-based. Typically when a book captures my attention, I […]

Journal Chronicles (2): Current Planning/Journaling System

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. To be honest, I’ve been in a bit of a reading rut. Nothing has really captured my attention, and so most of my reading has turned to Wattpad. I don’t feel as much guilt if I give up on a Wattpad book. When a book I’ve purchased or an ARC, however, fails to capture my attention, I feel bad… :/ I’m hoping to get back on the reading horse soon. I know I want to read Hunted by Meagan Spooner, which I just received in my Uppercase Box. Hopefully, that will get me out of my reading rut! I’ve also been contemplating my ever changing planning and journaling system. It’s a constant struggle over how  I want to plan, what size notebooks do I want to use, etc. etc. I think it’ll be quite some time before I finally settle on a single system. It […]

Exciting March Releases

Exciting March Releases

Can you believe it’s already March? February sure flew by as quite the rollercoaster. I’m actually quite glad it’s over. February ended on quite the stressful note. I’m hoping March ends up going much better. 🙂 As always, with a new month comes more new releases. Here are a few March releases I’m most excited for: 1. Hunted by Meagan Spooner (3/14) – I’m totally digging all of the Beauty and the Beast love going on right now. I’m also quite excited for the movie! So, ever since I heard about Hunted, a Beauty and the Beast retelling, I’ve been wanting to read it! I’m very excited. 2. The Hidden Memory of Objects by Danielle Mages Amato (3/21) – This YA mystery with a girl that can see memories attached to objects has me very intrigued. I’m not sure what to expect, but I’m very interested in diving into this one. What books are you […]

Bookish Thoughts: Book Subscription Boxes

Posted 13 February, 2017 by Amy in Bookish Thoughts / 0 Comments

Do you subscribe to book subscription boxes, like Uppercase or OwlCrate? Have you been thinking about possibly subscribing to one? Well, I’ve subscribed to a few book subscription boxes over the last couple of years, and personally, I really enjoy getting them. Plus I’m the kind of person that enjoys getting snail mail! So here are my thoughts on what to consider when picking a book subscription box. 1. Do you often preorder a lot of books or buy a lot of books when the day it’s released? If you do, a book subscription box may not be for you. Book subscription boxes often are sent out towards the middle/end of the month and often contain a book released that month. So there’s a high possibility that you may end up with duplicate books if you tend to preorder or purchase a lot of books on release day. 2. What type of […]

Weekend Round Up (2): Everything’s Gonna Be Okay

Posted 11 February, 2017 by Amy in Weekend Round Up / 0 Comments

So… It’s been about a week now since I had my misfortunate accident and completely deleted all of my blogging content from the past 3 years. To be honest, at first, I was extremely frustrated with myself, which is something I guess would be expected. I was upset and disappointed at myself for doing such a thing. Now, however, I’ve come to terms with it and have decided that this will be a great time to start fresh. Ever since I left college, I’ve been struggling with my blog. Back in school, it was easy for me to juggle blogging with the rest of my life. After entering the workforce, it was a struggle. Adulting is HARD. I continuously dropped the ball, and I could never quite get consistent. I think part of the frustration was that I never felt like I could keep up with my previous self that […]

Journal Chronicles (1): Sojourner Notebooks

Journal Chronicles (1): Sojourner Notebooks

I’ve previously talked about my Sojourner Notebooks from Rowena, but since the post got deleted, I figured why not write another one. I absolutely love my Sojourners, and highly recommend Rowena’s work. Rowena’s Sojourner Notebooks are Traveler’s Notebook-esque notebooks. They’re made from leather and are basically covers for your notebooks. It’s a system that allows you to carry multiple thin notebooks instead of a single thick notebook. (Granted, you can put a thicker notebook in a Traveler’s Notebook too.) Kind of like carrying multiple Moleskine Cahier notebooks instead of a single Moleskine hardcover notebook. The leather covers are meant to last and tend to have a very rustic feel to them, showing scratches and tanning over time as you travel with them or use them every day. (It’s kind of weird for me to use such a thing since I’m also the kind of person that tries to keep all of […]
