New Fall 2018 Shows I’m Loving

A little over a month ago, the fall season of primetime television started in the US. There were tons of new shows to watch and some returning favorites. (Don’t get me started on the fact that it’s Big Bang Theory’s last season.) Now that I’ve watched some of the new shows, I thought I’d share some of the new shows I’ll be following this season.

FBI
Airs on CBS on Tuesdays at 9/8c

FBI is pretty much your classic crime drama. It definitely fits following the NCIS time slot. (NCIS is, by the way, one of my favorites.) I’m actually surprised there hasn’t been an FBI show like this until now. Despite being another classic crime drama, it makes my list because of the characters. I especially love that there is a female lead. I feel like a lot of crime dramas have male leads with females as secondary characters or female leads as support to the detective/agent/etc. Missy Peregrym is fantastic as Special Agent Maggie Bell in FBI. I absolutely love her character and how she works with her partner and team.

The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion
Airs on ABC on Tuesdays at 10/9c

I’m mainly watching The Rookie because it stars Nathan Fillion. At first look, it looks like yet another crime drama, but The Rookie is interesting because it focuses on the patrol officer. Nathan Fillion plays John Nolan, a 40-year-old rookie that is starting his field training. Nolan is given a hard time because of his age and has to work hard to show that he’s worthy of working among his young colleagues.  I really enjoy following Nolan’s story. It’s fast-paced, has quite a bit of action, and focuses more on his growth as an officer than the bad guys he’s apprehending.

Single Parents
Airs on ABC on Wednesdays at 9:30/8:30c

Single Parents is a comedy about a group of single parents that help each other out. I think it’s absolutely entertaining. A bit over the top, yes. But still quite entertaining. I also think it’s great that it’s, in a way, highlighting the struggles of single parenthood. I was raised by a single parent, and I know my mom worked hard to provide everything for my brother and me. Her hardworking attitude and the help of family definitely made my childhood feel as if nothing was missing.

A Million Little Things
Airs on ABC on Wednesdays at 10/9c

I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy A Million Little Things. I thought the topics discussed in this drama would be too heavy for me to watch after a stressful day at work. Turns out, I’m actually really enjoying it. A Million Little Things does hit on a lot of tough issues and has a way of tugging at all your emotions. What I like most about the show are the characters. I’m enjoying learning about each of them and their story.

Have you been watching any of the new shows on network television? Or do you have any returning favorite shows? I’d love to know which ones you enjoy! Feel free to share them in the comments. 🙂
