Hello June!

June is upon us, which means SUMMER BABY! I love summer. Yes, here in Hawaii, it does mean extra hot days, possible humidity, and hurricane season, but it also means beach days, lots of sun, summer blockbuster movies, and feel-good, summery books. (Although, I don’t think my list of anticipated reads has many feel-good, summery books…) I greatly miss summer vacations, but I guess I can’t complain. Another holiday weekend is just a week away, with 4th of July, Statehood Day, and Labor Day following not too far behind. (Thank you, Hawaii state holidays!)

I feel like I’ve been reading A LOT of fantasy novels lately. I am currently reading Cursor’s Fury by Jim Butcher, working my way through the Codex Alera series. So I’m CRAVING some contemporary. Particularly, a mystery or romantic suspense. If you have any recommendations, please do let me know! I’ve been scouring my library’s OverDrive and the books I may want to reread for the perfect book. I’m sure I’ll find something.

My June Most Anticipated Book Releases

1. Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf (6/5) – This is a story about a girl that is heartless. She is an immortal soldier for a witch that has control over her heart. In order to obtain her freedom (and her heart), she must steal the heart of the crown prince. Bring Me Their Hearts is another fantasy (I know!), but it sounds fantastic! EntangledTeen graciously sent me an ARC, and I can’t wait to dive into it next.

2. Save the Date by Morgan Matson (6/5) – I think, Save the Date is the closest thing I have to a feel good, summery read on this list. LOL. This story is centered around a wedding, and Charlie Grant is hoping for one last perfect weekend with all of her older siblings before the house is sold. According to the synopsis, shenanigans occur as they do, and Charlie’s perfect weekend doesn’t sound like it’ll be so perfect. This just sounds like a hilarious read. I can’t wait!

3. Getting Schooled by Emma Chase (6/26) – This is a romance novel about two former high school sweethearts that find themselves back in their hometown, teaching at their old high school. I know Emma Chase is a fantastic romance author. To be honest, though, I only want to read this because the male lead has “the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.” I’m looking forward to Snoopy.

4. Conan Doyle for the Defense: The True Story of a Sensational British Murder, a Quest for Justice, and the World’s Most Greatest Detective Writer by Margalit Fox (6/26) – I don’t think I’ve ever read true crime. It’s not really my cup of tea. I much prefer reading and watching fictional crimes. I’ve always been somewhat intrigued by Conan Doyle, the man that created Sherlock Holmes and helped solve a crime in real life. I think this would be an interesting read.

My June Most Anticipated Movies

Switching gears, let’s talk about movies. Shall we? The two movies I’m looking forward to are Incredibles 2 (6/15) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (6/22). Both are sequels, and I’m so excited! You can check out the trailers below:

What books are you excited for this month? What movies are you excited for? Do you like summer too? Let me know in the comments! & Happy reading! 🙂
