With her harrowing tale of espionage and near death experiences finally out in the open, Anastasia Phoenix thought things would be better. That she and her friends had outsmarted Department D, the criminal empire her parents helped create.

She thought wrong.

Former friends have turned to enemies, causing more innocent lives to get swept up into the dangerous world her parents created. Now it’s up to Anastasia to stop the damage before anyone else gets hurt—or worse. She embarks on a treacherous trail from Poland to Prague, and old rivals emerge at every turn. But when the final confrontation occurs, will she be too late to protect the ones she loves... or even herself?

We have reached the end of the Anastasia Phoenix series, and I think Diana Rodriguez Wallach finished off strong with End of the Lie. It was definitely my favorite of the three books.

In this story, Anastasia’s sister, Keira, has gone public with their story, which has led their parents, Marcus’s parents, and the Urban’s to go into hiding. They’re all dealing with the stress that their parents may not be good people, and Anastasia is dealing with a former best friend that’s posting videos online blaming her for her boyfriend’s death.

Throughout the book, they’re searching for their parents and trying to convince Anastasia’s friend to stop posting videos before she gets caught in the cross-hairs. This causes a lot of tension to rise, and in turn, a lot of blame and anger to be misplaced on each other. Through it all, I thought the characters showed a lot of growth, in this installment, learning to deal with their stress and anger. In particular, Anastasia was at the center of a lot of the blame, considering her father wasn’t her biological father after all.

I feel like all of the main characters, Anastasia, Keira, Marcus, Charlotte, and Julian, really solidified as a family in this story. I was rooting for all of them to make it through together, and I really enjoyed how the plot of End of the Lie unfolded and the choices they all made. Of course, there were some plot twists I was not expecting in End of the Lie, that kept me on my toes till the end.

If you enjoy YA spy thrillers, I’d recommend reading this series. I really enjoyed reading about Anastasia’s story and watching her find a new family through it all. If you’ve read End of the Lie, I would love to discuss!
