Journal Chronicles (4): Dingbats* Notebook A6 Review

Have you guys heard about Dingbats* Notebooks? I purchased an A6 size Dingbats* Wildlife Red Kangaroo edition in the dot grid when they were donating some of their sales to the World Wildlife Fund in Australia. (Normally, they donate some of their sales to the WWF in the UK.) I’ve been meaning to try out their notebooks for a while, and I figured that was a good time as any to purchase one.

General Features of the Notebook

Like I mentioned earlier, I purchased the A6 size Dingbats* Wildlife Red Kangaroo edition in the dot grid. These notebooks come in varying sizes (A6, A5, and A4) and in various colors. Each color features a different animal. The Wildlife collection notebooks also come in various formats: plain, lined, grid, and dot grid. They also have their Earth collection, which is numbered and only comes in dot grid and A5 size. As a side note, you can also find the Dingbats Notebooks on Amazon (affiliate link), if that is more convenient for you.

I purchased the A6 size because I do prefer pocket notebooks to carry around with me. I also tend to write small. So I don’t always need a huge page to write on. The notebook I purchased has 192 pages (96 sheets) that are micro-perforated. It has one ribbon bookmark, an inner pocket, an elastic closure, and an elastic pen holder. The paper is 100 gsm, cream-colored, and very smooth. For my common writing utensils, there is no bleed-through and very minimal ghosting.

My Thoughts

I’ve been using this notebook for about a month now, and I really love the paper. Honestly, the paper is top-notch! It’s a bit more cream than I like, but I truly love how smooth the paper is. I feel like the pen can easily glide across the page when I’m writing. Plus I appreciate the very minimal ghosting.

The only true downside to this notebook for me is the micro-perforation. I was hoping it wouldn’t bother me, but as I’ve been using the notebook and turning the pages, I grow more and more concerned that the pages I’ve written on will fall out. I think I’d prefer it if only a few of the pages were perforated in the back. I believe the Earth collection may not have all of the pages perforated. So I may have to check out that collection one day.

If you’re looking for a new notebook, I’d highly recommend checking out Dingbats* Notebooks. If you’ve used Dingbats* Notebooks, what are your opinions about it? Or if you have a favorite notebook I should check out, please let me know! Feel free to leave a comment or find me on social media.
